Welcome! About Our Group...

Madison Contemporary Fiber Artists (MCFA) is  a group of 30+ diverse fiber artists from the Madison and southern Wisconsin area who share a passion for creating original art from fiber. Originating in 1999 as a collective for fiber artists, the group continues to pursue its dual mission: to encourage artists' growth and to promote fiber art as an art form. To foster the artistic growth of members, MCFA provides a forum to explore contemporary design and fiber manipulation techniques, offers advice about works-in-progress, and stimulates creativity.  The public part of our mission - to promote fiber as an art form - is accomplished primarily through group exhibitions and occasional public workshops.

MCFA artists' work currently includes art quilts, surface design, beading, paper making, thread painting, hand embroidery, weaving, contemporary dolls, wearable art, felting, hand stitching, fabric dyeing, and mixed fiber media.

Meeting and Membership Information

Madison Contemporary Fiber Artists meetings are held
The 4th Tuesday of the month  (January through October)
From 6:00-8:00 pm at Blue Bar Quilts,
6333 University Avenue, Middleton, Wisconsin 53562.

Meetings include a lively show and tell, optional challenges, the demonstration of a new fiber art technique, and plans for upcoming exhibitions, workshops, and play dates. In November, the group has an annual dinner party for members only. The group does not meet at all in December.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in fiber arts. The cost of membership is $20/year beginning in January. There is no pro-rated price if one joins later on in the year. Membership includes access to the list serve, listing on the website, ability to participate in shows, and more. Since MCFA is a volunteer organization, it depends upon its members to carry out its work as they network with each other.  New members are always welcome!
